Asking the Minister about support for the British Council

The British Council delivers over £1billion worth of global impact annually for the UK through education, arts, culture, language and creativity with a Government grant which is a fraction of what other countries give their soft power programmes. They were granted an emergency loan from the treasury during the pandemic on commercial terms- it’s still in place - costing the Council £14m a year. It doesn’t make sense and so I asked the Minister to review it and support the Council so they can do more for British interests overseas.
