A seat poll conducted by Survation and commissioned by the Liberal Democrats for the parliamentary constituency of Esher and Walton has shown the Liberal Democrats are best placed to defeat Dominic Raab.

In response to the question,

‘If there were a general election tomorrow, how would you vote’, the Liberal Democrats received 36% of the vote share, a surge of 19% compared to the 2017 election.

Meanwhile, the Conservative and Labour vote shares collapsed. The Conservatives plummeted by 14% down to 45% while Labour fell by 9% down to 11%. Esher & Walton is now a two-horse race between the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives.

Having won the constituency in the European elections - a constituency where 59% of which voted to Remain in 2016 – the local Liberal Democrats have also doubled the local party membership in 2019 alone.

Speaking upon the release of the poll, Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Esher & Walton Monica Harding said:

“I am extremely encouraged by this poll. It shows we can win and I am confident we will win here.

“The poll puts Labour out of the race and shows the support that we are receiving every day on the doorsteps across Esher & Walton. Time and again people here tell me that they have had enough of the hard line Brexiteer Dominic Raab.

“It’s clear Dominic Raab cares more about himself, his party and his Brexit ideology than he does about the needs and concerns of my fellow local residents in Esher & Walton. He is stuck in the past. It is the Liberal Democrats that are the future, every vote for the Liberal Democrats at the next election is a vote to stop Brexit. We will build a brighter future with our ambitious plans for schools, public services and tackling the climate emergency, that will benefit us locally and everyone across the UK.”
